Other than that I am still reading The Lost Art of Being Happy, by Tony Wilkinson, Life of Pi, by Yann Martel and A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness which I have nearly finished.

Last week I finished The Lacuna, By Barbara Kingsolver and it was such a great read - definitely a must read for Historical Fiction lovers. As part of the 2013 Nerdy Non-Fiction Readers Challenge I am readingThe Lost Art of Being Happy, By Tony Wilkinson. I started reading this a while ago but didn't finish so am giving it another go. I don't know if it will live up to some of my favourites such as The Power of Now, By Eckhart Tolle, but definitely has a lot of great content to consider. In the beginning chapters I felt a bit like Wilkinson was arguing the same point over and over again, but now it is moving more into the practise of skills I am enjoying it much more. I have not given 'The Harp in the South' much attention so it has gone back on the TBR pile for now. I had seen 'The Discovery of Witches' at the bookshop so often and picked it up numerous times, but always put it back for some reason - I can't believe I did that cause it is so good!! lol :)

I am reading before bed each night, but am  am too tired to take it in and then have to re-read it the next night! lol :) Oh well....I am still enjoying All That I Am by Anna Funda and The Weed that Strings the Hangman's Bag By Alan Bradley. Flavia is such a great character - I love the Flavia de Luce mystery series so much! Anyway I had to go to the chemist which just happens to have a bookshop attached to it and ended up coming out with another book which I have started today - The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne, By Brian Moore. Be sure to visit Book Journey to link up  if want to join in!  I am well and truly back into the swing of things at work, hence the lack of reading and posts! :( No worry though, this week I am aiming to make up for it.  I am going to put Cutting for Stone down and come back to it later - only because I find it hard to read two pretty heavily themed books at the one time as I am also still reading All That I Am by Anna Funder. Instead of Cutting For Stone, I'm going to read The Weed that Strings the Hangman's Bag because I have been hanging out to read some more Flavia!!! If you haven't read any of the Flavia de Luce series, then you should!! lol :)

Be sure to visit Book Journey to link up  if want to join in!  Well, before I talk about what I am reading this week, let me just say that I finished The Fault in Our Stars By John Green on Saturday and oh my goodness what an amazing read...just, wow! So raw, honest and heart wrenching....you have to read it. Review will be here soon :)  This week though, I am excited to be starting Cutting for Stone By Abraham Verghese and The Earth Hums in B Flat By Mari Strachan. Cutting for Stone By Abraham Verghese is one that I have wanted to start reading all year!  The Earth Hums in B Flat By Mari Strachan is one that has been on my TBR pile forever and is also part of my Mount TBR challenge...yay!!

Be sure to visit Book Journey to link up  if want to join in!  This week  I am going to read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children which has been sitting on my shelf for a few months now. I am curious about this book, I don't really know what to expect - perhaps that is a good thing!  I am also reading The Fault in Our Stars By John Green. I got my copy last week and have been looking forward to this book because everybody I have spoken to loves it. I am extremely excited to get started on Catching Fire By Suzanne Collins, which is the second book in The Hunger Games Trilogy. Yes, I know I have been a bit slow to get into this series but I kept avoiding it for some reason - probably all the hype which usually makes me run the other way!! But, I can truly say that I am glad I finally read The Hunger Gam...

This week I am reading 2 great books! The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins, which I am sure you have all heard more than enough about!!!...but I am nearly done and have really enjoyed it. Will post a review sometime throughout the week. The Snow Child was an impulse buy from the bookstore while I was waiting for a prescription to be filled at the chemist. I cannot seem to go to the chemist without finding my way to the bookstore and returning home with another book or two.....eeeek! Oh well! :) But, as always, I am drawn to beautiful cover art that is backed up by the promise of a great story and this seemed to fit both those criteria for me. I read the first few pages and the writing is beautiful, so I am really looking forward to reading The Snow Child By Eowyn Ivey.  Here is a trailer from YouTube .

Hosted By Sheila @  Book Journey It's Monday! What are you reading????? ......Reading!!!...What on Earth is Reading??? Well, I have returned to work - and how can you tell? Well, firstly you will notice that there have been no posts for about 2 weeks now and secondly you will notice that I am reading the same books as I was way back in holiday time. It is very sad :(  I am aiming to get back on track now. Am nearly finished Uncle Tom's Cabin and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, both of which I have enjoyed a great deal! Will post reviews this weekend. I have started The Perks of Being a Wallflower (which is fantastic) and The Scarlet Letter which I need to read by the end of this month for book club. I like the Scarlet Letter, but the language of the first paragraph was incredibly taxing! It seems like one of those novels where you need to read a few pages to get used to the authors language before it flows. Does anybody else have this experience?  ...

I think that is because I have to go back to work on Friday and that means less reading time...oh well :( Okay....here is where I am at with my reading: * The Happiness Project By Gretchen Rubin.....am sorry to say that this one has gone back to the TBR pile. I don't hate it, but I really don't love it and there are too many other great books to spend my time reading! It was a great concept and it is interesting, but it feels a bit forced and laborious when a motivational book should be grabbing me with its every word. Plus, I saw a couple of YouTube interviews with Rubin about the 'inspiring' moment that gave her the idea for the book and she gave two slightly different versions of it which gave me the impression that it was  made-up or altered to be more 'inspiring'!....all about selling the book and not really her story...so that put me off. * Uncle To...

Hosted By Sheila @ Book Journey Okay....so I have never participated in 'It's Monday! What are you Reading?' and am pretty new to this book blogging adventure but am excited to be able to join in! I only hope that I can keep pace with everyone so that I am not the only one saying "Ummm...still reading xxxxx" every week!! LOL :) That shouldn't be a problem at the moment though as I am on holidays for the next 3 weeks so no work distractions are in the foreseeable 3 week future.
